COMPANY: Tread Global
ROLE: Lead Industrial Designer
SCOPE: Designing child resistant packaging solutions, help inventors design products, create branding and promotional material

After college, I joined Tread Global, a Denver-based product development firm, where I became lead designer specializing in child-resistant packaging for the fast-growing medical marijuana industry.

I created solutions that were safe, user-friendly, visually appealing, and brand-aligned. Four of my designs were patented, two sold over 20 million units each in a year. Each design went through rapid prototyping and user testing to ensure adults could open them, but children could not. This was critical, the packaging had to pass child-resistant certification tests using the production molds to be legally sold.

One standout product, a plastic soda can topper, became the industry standard for over a year. Designed in collaboration with Ska Fab, it worked with automated canning lines and stacked efficiently for shipping. This product is still selling today, and I have recently been working with Tread Global to design semi-automated equipment for applying the can toppers.

Another key success, the “leaning jar,” won Best Packaging Design at ADCANN 2021. It improved product visibility in waist-level displays and was so popular, we became the largest producer of green-tinted glass during its run.
